Post GameRail users "bypass" the Public Internet
It looks like this company is trying to optimize gamers routing around the US by what they call bypassing the public internet and using their own network routes.

I have signed up to try it out during the Free beta. Hopefully I will hear from them soon so I can give it a try. I would think people's results would still be mixed depending on where they live in the US and also what ISP they use but we'll see.

GameRail announced their gaming superiority, allowing fraggers in Missouri a ping decrease of 25-75% anywhere in the country. Online gamers with broadband from Charter now have the shortest and fastest path to performance servers running Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory Fortress, Call of Duty, Counter Strike Source, Quake 4 and several other games.

You basically get a special download you install on your PC and press connect which hooks you into the GameRail network routing through it's VPN client.
